3D Modelling Talk

Have you ever wondered how computer animated movies are made? What goes into making something like Toy Story 3 or Finding Nemo? How did they make that freaky squid faced guy from Pirates Of The Caribbean and how do you blow up a building without access to explosives? It’s all done with 3D Computer Graphics Software suites that can cost tens of thousands of euro. Thankfully there is a free alternative!

I’ll be giving an introductory talk on 3D with free and open source software for Tech Week so come and find out how it’s all done. It will be an interactive workshop so you can work along with me as I show you the basics of modelling, texturing, animation and lighting in 3D all using free and open source software so you can try it at home as well.

The following is an example of what can be acheived with 3D modelling (click to view in full detail)

This talk will be held on Tuesday the 22nd of February at 13:00 in LG25.
